Commenting and Reviewing

You will be sending your documents back and forth with your faculty advisors throughout your writing process. With balloons turned on , all changes (except added text) display in the right margin, including comments. This includes formatting changes such as bold, italic, etc.

Without balloons turned on, all changes are right in the text. Move your cursor over a comment to see a popup box of the comment.

Merging Comments and Changes into One Document

Once everyone has made their changes and comments, you may need to combine everyone’s documents into one final document for review.

  1. On the Review Ribbon, in the Compare Group , click on the Compare icon and choose Combine.
  2. In the resulting dialog box, choose your original document on left side and the revised document on the right side (click on the Folder icon to browse through your files).
  3. Click OK to exit the dialog box.
  4. Repeat as needed until everyone’s documents are combined into one. Notice that a new, combined document is created each time – you only need to save the one that has everyone’s changes together.

Each person’s changes will appear in a different color, so you can easily see who said what. To look at the changes by a single individual, click on the arrow to the right of the Show Markup icon (in the Tracking Group ), go down to Reviewers , and choose the single person you want to look at.

Accepting and Rejecting Changes

Criminal Prosecution

Under authority granted by the Los Angeles County District Attorney, our office criminally prosecutes who fail or refuse to provide support even though they have the ability to pay. This happens when other civil remedies, such as wage assignment, license revocation, bank levies, and civil contempt, are unsuccessful. Although a defendant in a criminal case may face up to a year in jail, the primary goal of criminal prosecution is not incarceration. The initial M-twist ΔbHLH allele in a C57/Bl6 × SJL hybrid background was outcrossed to CD1 and C57/Bl6 genetic backgrounds. In the fifth and sixth generations 73 mice in increasing CD1 and 15 mice in mixed C57/Bl6 backgrounds respectively were analyzed. No animals, either wild-type or heterozygous, presented any obvious phenotype in the hindlimbs or skull. Measurements of different skull bones were done on 37 newborn animals in a CD1 background (20 wild-type and 17 heterozygotes) and only seven newborn animals (four wild-type, three heterozygotes) in a C57/Bl6 background. These preliminary results showed that the mean values of the measures on the heterozygotes were ∼4–9% higher than their counterparts in wild-type animals (depending on the strain), but that these differences were always within the standard error of the values (not shown); 19% of heterozygotes had a large interfrontal bone, while it was rather small and only observed in ∼11% of the wild-types (not shown).

However, rib cage abnormalities were recorded in a total of 36 heterozygous M-twist ΔbHLH newborn mice, which were compared with 37 wild-type littermates with a CD1 mixed background: typically 70% of the wild-types had 13 pairs of ribs (either seven pairs attached to the sternum and six non-attached or eight attached and five non-attached); this is only observed in 44% of the heterozygotes.
